What is a low speed centrifuge?

The low speed centrifuge is defined by the sample’s spun speed. A centrifuge with a spun speed <of 5000 rpm is called a low speed centrifuge.

The low speed centrifuge machine is very different from the high speed centrifuge. Although both the devices follow the same principle, the low speed centrifuge can separate elements in smaller amounts.

While a high speed centrifuge uses a very high centrifugal force, the same is not the case with a low speed centrifuge. A low speed centrifuge will work based on material density. Eventually, the centrifugal force will be applied to the items similarly.

As the name suggests, the centrifugal force’s speed will be much lower in the low speed centrifuge machine. However, it does produce accurate results. Unlike the large high speed centrifuges, the low speed centrifuge cannot perform for high angular velocity.

FAQ

A low-speed centrifuge is usually used in the laboratory to separate biological samples, such as cellular materials, blood, urine, sperm, etc.

We don’t recommend spinning blood twice because re-spin will elevate the potassium and lead to false data. If the blood sample hasn’t spun well, please pour it, then spin a new one.

If blood is spined too soon, there might be clots forming in the serum and require an additional step to rim the clot, which might contaminate your sample.

The blood must not spin immediately after collecting.  Before spin it, you must let the blood tube upright and wait for at least 30minutes, but no more than 60minutes.

Then spin for at least 15 minutes at 2200-2500 RPM. The whole process from collection to the end of spin should not last for one hour.

If you balance it properly, it’s perfectly quiet. The noise dB(A) ≤ 58 dB(A). If the centrifuge you got is very noisy, please check whether you have balanced the centrifuges well or not.

It’s very easy. The rotor is similar to a balance, samples with the same weight must be placed on the exactly opposite side of the rotor, that is, on the same line through the center.

Laboratories Low Speed Centrifuge: The Definitive Guide

The Laboratories centrifuges use centrifugal force to ensure separation. They play an essential role in separating the components of different densities.

One of the key benefits of using a centrifuge is that it can allow the separation of materials of different thicknesses.

Although there are different kinds of centrifuges, the low speed centrifuge can prove to be highly beneficial.

A centrifuge for low speed helps to ensure the proper separation of fluid components of different densities.

Low Speed Centrifuge Characteristics

The low speed centrifuges are used at laboratories. It is necessary to determine the condition, especially temperature and force, before starting to use it.

Low Speed Benchtop Large Capacity Centrifuge Machine PM4

The low speed centrifuges can be highly beneficial for the separation of fluid components. Some of the critical characteristics of low speed centrifuge include the following.

  • The low speed centrifuge machine has a very sturdy flat surface on the top.
  • The machine contains buttons that are responsible for boosting acceleration and deceleration.
  • The memory programs are scaled up to ten.
  • To prevent the risk of overheating, the low speed centrifuge has an option of automatic release.
  • The rotor angle for a low speed centrifuge is usually fixed. The low speed centrifuge may have a single or double rotor.
  • Many low speed centrifuges support gentle soft spin options. This plays a vital role in promoting cell line washing.
  • Low speed centrifuge can prove to be highly beneficial in medical and general laboratories.
  • These are used for separating the liquid component in various biological samples. Some of the standard fluid features that undergo centrifuge at low speed include sperm, urine and blood.
  • The centrifuge of low speed is usually beneficial for centrifuging components in fewer amounts.

What is the maximum speed of a low-speed centrifuge?

The maximum speed of a low-speed centrifuge is around 10,000 RPM.

However, many machines also have a rate less than that of 10,000 RPM. In such conditions, the rotors do not run in a vacuum.

Moreover, the low speed centrifuge machine also has a temperature control facility to boost the Centrifugation process.

Nonetheless, it is essential to note that the maximum speed will also vary depending on the brand.

Several brands produce benchtop low speed centrifuges with a lesser maximum speed capacity.

Depending on the variation of speed, the purpose of the centrifuge varies too.

The Centrifuges with less maximum speed can help centrifuge urine and sperm samples.

However, there is a requirement for a low speed Centrifuge with a better maximum capacity for other components.

What are The Types of low speed Centrifuge?

As suggested above, there are different types of centrifuges. However, it is necessary to note that there are different types of low speed Centrifuges too.

Low speed lab centrifuge

A low speed laboratory Centrifuge is used mainly for the separation of fluids, liquids, and gases.

The separation of these components depends on their densities. One of the key benefits of low speed laboratory centrifuges is that they are used for laboratory and medical purposes.

These can support academic purposes too. The vessel is spun at high speed, and the component with a higher density is pushed out of the boat.

Some of the common uses of low speed laboratory centrifuge include purification of cells, nucleic acids, viruses, organelles, proteins and more.

The low speed laboratory centrifuge usually has a single rotor to determine the separation of smaller amounts.

Tabletop low speed centrifuge

The tabletop low speed centrifuge is also known as a benchtop low speed centrifuge.

This is one of the most commonly used types of centrifuge because it has a flat footprint surface.

The low speed tabletop centrifuge can be helpful for the separation of various components.

The low speed tabletop centrifuges are usually very compact. They play an essential role in the centrifugation of blood components such as serum, red blood cells and mostly bodily fluids.

They typically have very low speeds ranging from 200 to 6000 rpm.

They are mainly used for medical purposes and hence, have narrow blood draw tubes.

However, make sure to check the size of the lines before purchasing the machine.

Low speed refrigerated centrifuge

The low speed refrigerated centrifuge is ideal for samples that are temperature sensitive.

These can be helpful for the separation of components like animals, proteins and live cells.

One of the critical characteristics of a low speed refrigerated centrifuge is that it is available with interchangeable adapters and rotors.

However, they can be efficient for covering up cells of different volumes.

These are generally low speed so that they can accept sample items of only limited importance.

Low speed auto-balancing centrifuge

The low speed auto-balancing centrifuge helps to counter the high speed by managing rotor fluctuation technology.

The centrifuge has been one of the most prominent inventions, but there is a significant difference or problem with balancing the rotor.

Hence, the low speed auto-balancing centrifuge is meant to improve the speed. They are symmetrically placed on the opposite ends, which play an essential role in balancing.

However, it is necessary to be careful about the weight which we are putting on the rotor.

Overloaded rotor, in case of auto-balancing centrifuge, may not be able to perform.

However, if the container samples are unbalanced, the auto-balancing centrifuge may not conduct the Centrifugation process.

Large capacity low speed preparative Centrifuge

The primary function of a preparative centrifuge is to perform centrifugation to achieve more than one component from the sample.

The preparative centrifuge can be highly beneficial for covering up the complex models.

Hence, the large capacity, low similarly speed preparative centrifuge functions.

These tend to have lower speed and ensure it encompasses the need of obtaining more than one component. These are highly beneficial for the separation of fractionating mixtures.

What is the slowest speed possible?

The professionals consider measuring the speed of a low speed Centrifuge. Similar to the model of low speed Centrifuge maximum speed, the minimum rate will vary too.

Many low speed centrifuge machine brands offer the lowest speed of 200 RPM.

However, many other brands may provide much lower speed. Therefore, it is advisable to do market research before making a choice.

Low speed Centrifuge price

The low speed Centrifuge price significantly varies depending on where you are purchasing it from.

The online stores offer you reliability and guarantee for low speed centrifuge prices.

Hence, you can check out the low speed centrifuge price in China to get your hands on the best product.

Usually, the low speed centrifuge price ranges from $700-$1500.
